Overseas
Renewable energy projects with ENGIE are a notable example of our overseas activities.
In 2019, the Group acquired 50% of equity interests in a joint venture company, Heolios EnTG S.A.P.I. de C.V., established between ENGIE and Tokyo Gas as a business platform for jointly developing and operating renewable assets located in Mexico, where is endowed with extraordinary sunshine and wind resources.
The joint venture company will initially operate six renewable energy projects (total capacity: 899,000 kW) consisting of two onshore wind power plants and four solar power plants, which are planned to successfully commence commercial operation by 2020. The capacity 899,000kW is equivalent to 1,300,000 Mexican households’ annual electricity consumption. The joint venture company will continue to seek to develop new renewable projects in Mexico, helping reduce CO2 emissions nationally and contributing to an environmentally friendly society.
Through these initiatives the Group will continue to contribute to a global low carbon society.
