Contributing to Realize a Decarbonized Society by Digital Technology

FUJITSU Ltd.

Outline

We will develop cutting-edge digital technologies, including AI, IoT, Big Data technologies and the computing technologies that support them. By applying these technologies in a safe and secure manner, energy efficiency will be greatly improved in all areas of society, such as industry, business, transportation and mobility. In addition, we will contribute to realize a new electric power network using renewable energy as the main power source by conducting advanced prediction and control of renewable energy sources.

Description

To realize a decarbonized society, it is essential to significantly improve the energy efficiency of the entire society, including cities, and to construct a new electric power network that uses renewable energy as its main power source.
In order to improve energy efficiency, we need to install automation technologies and visualization for discovering waste in the industrial sector and changing the way of work and reviewed & automated business processes in the office, in addition, resource sharing, optimizing routes and developing information infrastructure to support electricization in the transportation & mobility fields. To apply digital technology in a variety fields has great potential of reducing energy use.
In order to convert renewable energy into a mainstay power source, it is necessary to match supply and demand by accurately predicting the amount of electricity generated by a large number of distributed renewable energy sources and the amount of demand in factories, offices, homes, etc. And it is necessary to develop technologies for control the entire power network in a sophisticated manner by combining storage facilities such as storage batteries and hydrogen.
In order to realize such significant improvements in energy efficiency and the construction of new electric power network, we will develop the cutting-edge digital technologies, such as AI, IoT and Big Data, that collect and manage data for advanced analysis and prediction. We are also working on the development of computing technologies to achieve at high speeds and low power consumption. At the same time, we will promote initiatives to ensure the safe, secure, and trust use of digital technologies.
Through these efforts, we will contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society and aim to achieve zero emissions for our group by 2050.
